BARC Written and interview experience

Two times, I selected to appear in BARC interview (Through GATE-2014 & Written 2015). My GATE AIR in 2014 was 171 in ECE stream. The cut off at that time was around AIR-325 and cut off in written was around 98.42% and I secured around 99.43%.in written exam there were four session and cut off marks for each session were different but the cut off percentile for each session was same. in my session cut off marks were around 150 out of 300 and I got around 192 marks. So my this part was strong enough and I thought I will definitely going to select. but BARC does not consider the weightage of of written marks or GATE rank. Final selection totally depends on interview. 100%  weightage of interview for the final selection.

One more think interview panel concentrates only on your technical knowledge. No matter what your dressing sense is or what is your behavior in the interview hall. i am going to share one of my interview experiences.

I reached Mumbai before one day at 7am(around). At BARC main gate security guard checked my call letter then I reached at BARC boys hostel where they provide the facility of staying. They allotted me a room on 6 floor with 2 more contestant.next day interview started. I entered inside the interview room. 6 interviewers were sitting there.

First one-when did you reach at mumbai?

Me-yesterday

First one-what are your fav subjects

Me- control system, digital electronics, semiconductor devices

First-two more

Me-signal systems, 8285 microprocessor

(always prepare five fav subjects. Both the times they asked 5 fav subjects)

Then they asked some questions:

First-design a control system for a water tank that starts filling water if level becomes less than 20% and vice versa for 80%

first-which type of control system used in lift? PD, PI or PID?

First-draw the response of underdamped and overdamped system for unit ramp input.

First-what is adaptive control system?

Second-design a digital circuit for a show like india got talent that selects the participant if three or more judges say yes.consider total no. of judges are 5.

Second- design a counter that counts the time in microseconds when husen bolt runs 100 mtrs race.

Second- what is the difference between ripple counter and synchronous counter

Second- what is the difference between synchronous counter with ripple carry and synchronous counter without ripple carry?

Second-can we connect TTL logic family to CMOS logic family directly and if yes then how?

Third-what is single super beta transistor?

Third-how can we make single stage super beta transistor?

Third-how can we improve the current gain of transistor?

Third-explain how can we determine the depletion width of the pn junction?

Third- design a circuit that generate the triangular wave with the help of rectangular wave.but the result must be pure triangular.

Fourth- (he drawn a triangular wave and asked to me)-determine the fundamental frequency component and all the harmonics of this wave.

Fifth-What is DMA?

Fifth-what is the size single interrupt?

Fifth-difference between maskable and non maskable

Fifth—address of TRAP

Fifth-descrive the pins of 8085

Fifth-what is address multiplexing

Fifth-what is the function of SIM & RIM

Fifth-if a program is under process and interrupt signal enables then ?

Sixth-what is the function of RESET pin

(I forget many questions that I didn’t mentioned. It took around 1 hour)
